Chapter 6 - The True Queen

“What... what is this?” Richard stammered, stepping back from the microphone. “Security! Security!”

He was sweating profusely, his face turning an ugly shade of purple.

“Arrest that woman! She’s an imposter!”

Four armed security guards rushed toward the doors, ready to tackle the intruder.

But before they could even get close, twelve men in dark suits stepped out from the shadows behind Charlotte.

They weren't hotel security.

They were Alexander Sterling’s private, elite security detail.

Alexander slowly walked forward, his presence alone making the hotel guards freeze in their tracks.

“I wouldn't touch her if I were you,” Alexander said, his voice echoing in the dead-silent ballroom. “Unless you want to lose your hands.”

The hotel guards backed away immediately.

Charlotte didn't even look at Alexander, though she felt the warmth of his protection.

She kept her eyes locked on the stage.

She walked down the center aisle.

Her heels clicked against the marble floor, a slow, rhythmic sound that sounded like a death march for her enemies.

The guests parted wildly, gasping, whispering, pulling out their phones to record.

“It’s Charlotte Vale!”

“Oh my god, she’s alive!”

“I thought she died in the crash!”

Vivian was shaking with rage and terror. She recognized the girl.

“You!” Vivian screamed, her voice cracking. “You were the dirty maid in the lobby! You filthy liar! Get out of my hotel!”

Charlotte stopped at the foot of the stage.

She looked up at Vivian, her expression completely empty of emotion.

“Your hotel?” Charlotte asked softly.

The microphone on the podium picked up her voice, broadcasting it to the entire room.

Charlotte pulled a sleek black remote from the folds of her dress and pressed a button.

Instantly, the massive digital screen behind Richard—which had been displaying the merger logo—flickered and changed.

High-resolution images flashed across the screen.

The first was the true, legal will of Eleanor Vale.

The second was a bank statement, highlighting Richard's offshore accounts.

The third was an audio wave file.

Charlotte pressed another button.

Her mother’s desperate voice echoed through the ballroom speakers.

“Charlotte... if you get this, run. Do not trust your Uncle Richard. The brakes... he cut the brakes. He wants the empire. Hide, my sweet girl. Hide.”

The collective gasp from the elite crowd was deafening.

Women covered their mouths in horror. Men stared at Richard in absolute disgust.

Richard collapsed onto his knees, gripping his chest.

“No... no, it's fake! It's AI generated! She's lying!” he screamed pathetically.

Charlotte finally stepped up onto the stage.

She walked over to Richard, looking down at the man who had ordered her death.

“You stole my mother's life,” Charlotte said, her voice freezing the air around them. “But you will never steal her legacy.”
