Chapter 7 - The Reconstruction

The legal process was grueling. The divorce was messy, not because of the assets—I reclaimed my home and my accounts with ease—but because of the exposure. The public scrutiny was intense. My father stayed by my side, not as a doting parent, but as a strategic partner. We spent weeks in depositions, in meetings with federal agents, and in courtrooms where I had to face the man who had promised to protect me.

I learned that freedom isn't the absence of trauma; it’s the ability to move through it. I testified against Daniel, not with tears, but with facts. I laid out the financial ruin he had tried to orchestrate, and I watched as the court recognized the abuse for exactly what it was.

During the discovery phase, I found even more. Daniel had been doing this for years, using the same tactics on other women, always hiding behind his mother’s wealth and his own polished exterior. My case became the anchor for a larger investigation. The "unstable" wife turned out to be the only person who could bring the empire down. Every time I looked at the evidence, I wasn't looking at a tragedy—I was looking at my own professional excellence.
