Chapter 10 - The Piazza of Love

One year later, the sky over the piazza was a brilliant, warm blue. The sun shone brightly on the cobblestones, warming the air.

The café tables were filled with laughing people, and the sound of music drifted through the streets.

The three little girls ran across the piazza, their pale blue dresses fluttering once again.

But this time, they were not running to a stranger.

They were running to their grandmother, who was sitting on the stone steps.

Clara was wearing a beautiful green dress, her gray hair neatly braided.

She looked healthy, radiant, and loved.

She caught the girls in her arms, laughing as they covered her face with kisses.

Beatrice and Thomas walked hand-in-hand behind them.

Beatrice looked at the steps where her mother used to cry.

She didn't feel sadness anymore.

She felt a deep, profound gratitude.

She walked up to Clara and knelt down, hugging both her grandmother and her daughters.

Thomas joined them, wrapping his arms around the whole family.

Clara looked up at the sky, a soft smile on her lips.

For thirty-one years, she had waited in this square in the cold and the rain.

But today, the waiting was finally over.

She was no longer the forgotten woman of the piazza.

She was a mother, a grandmother, and she was finally home.

The two halves of the silver heart hung around Clara's neck, welded together into one perfect piece.

It caught the sunlight, shining brightly against her chest.

A symbol of a love that could not be broken, even by thirty-one years of silence.

They stood up together and walked out of the piazza, their laughter filling the warm afternoon air.

And behind them, the stone steps remained, no longer a place of grief, but a monument to a miracle.
