Chapter 10 - Dawn of a New Reign at Ravenshore

Dominic Kane stood near the center of the rose garden, leaning casually against the stone rim of the restored fountain, wearing a simple black turtleneck and a tailored charcoal blazer. He watched her approach down the stone path, his hands tucked casually into his pockets, a subtle smile playing at the corner of his mouth.

When Harper reached him, she stopped just a foot away, the sunlight catching the dark waves of her hair and the clean, unblemished skin of her face.

“You look like you’ve conquered the world before breakfast,” Dominic remarked, his voice warm and amused.

“Not the world,” Harper replied, stepping closer until she could feel the steady warmth radiating from him. “Just the part of it that tried to bury me.”

Dominic reached out, taking her left hand in his—the hand that was now fully healed, strong, and steady. He lifted it gently, pressing a soft, lingering kiss to her knuckles.

“You didn't need me to save you, Harper,” he murmured softly, looking straight into her eyes. “You only needed a crowbar to pry open the door. You broke it down yourself.”

“I couldn't have done it without the battering ram,” she smiled, resting her head lightly against his shoulder, inhaling the familiar scent of cedar and expensive tobacco that had once been her lifeline through the darkest night of her life.

Around them, the Ravenshore estate stood tall and proud under the endless blue sky of a new dawn. The ghosts of the past had been exorcised, the secrets of the vault had been laid bare, and the billionaire mafia king and the woman who had dared to defy her tormentors stood side by side as absolute rulers of their own destiny.

The nightmare was over. The empire was rebuilt. And as the morning bell from the Greenwich chapel rang out across the valley, Harper knew she would never have to run in the dark again.
