Chapter 7 - The Boardroom Coup

The top-floor boardroom of Bellamy Holdings was a masterpiece of modern architecture, featuring floor-to-ceiling glass walls that offered a panoramic view of the glittering downtown skyline.

Normally, this room hummed with arrogant laughter, clinking champagne glasses, and the smug confidence of men who believed they were untouchable.

Today, it was a tomb of suffocating silence.

Twelve board members sat around the massive glass conference table, their faces etched with shock, confusion, and deep-seated panic.

When the heavy double doors opened and I walked in flanked by Victor Vance, every eye turned toward me.

My father walked in a few steps behind us, looking smaller than he ever had in his life, stripped of his usual booming presence.

"Richard... what is the meaning of this?" stuttered Arthur Vance—no relation to Victor—an elderly board member who had rubber-stamped my father's worst corporate decisions for decades.

"Who is this young man, and why has security locked us out of the primary server vaults?"

I didn't wait for my father to answer.

I walked straight to the head of the table, pulled out the central chair, and sat down smoothly, resting my hands on the glass surface.

"Good morning, gentlemen," I said, my voice carrying a quiet, commanding resonance that instantly silenced the murmurs in the room.

"For those of you who don't recognize me—or choose not to remember—my name is Ethan Bellamy."

A sharp intake of breath swept across the table.

Several board members who had been around seven years ago suddenly froze, their eyes widening as they connected the face of the young man sitting before them with the ghost of the son Richard Bellamy had publicly disowned.

"Ethan?" Arthur whispered, leaning forward in disbelief.

"That's impossible. You... you were cast out."

"And now I've returned," I replied evenly, gesturing for Victor to open his briefcase.

"Effective as of last night, Apex Capital holds fifty-one point two percent of the voting shares in Bellamy Holdings. That makes me your new controlling chairman."

Pandemonium erupted instantly.

"Fifty-one percent?!" shouted Harrison Cole, the chief financial officer, slamming his palms onto the glass table and rising to his feet.

"That's a hostile takeover! We can challenge the legality! We can file an emergency injunction with the SEC!"

"You're welcome to try, Harrison," I replied, my expression chillingly calm.

"Of course, you'll have to explain to federal investigators why your signature is on the same off-shore wire transfers that Marcus used to embezzle four million dollars from our European logistics accounts in 2022."

Harrison's face turned the color of curdled milk.

He slowly sank back down into his chair, his hands trembling violently as he gripped the armrests.

The rest of the boardroom instantly fell deathly quiet, the realization dawning on everyone present that the house of cards they had built and protected for years had completely disintegrated.
