The Pregnant Woman Tumbled Down the Egyptian Palace Stairs. But the Royal Attacker Was the One Who Cried.

The grand stone staircase of the Pharaoh's palace went silent after Merit hit the landing.

Princess Khenmet stood halfway up the stairs, shaking in the arms of her chief handmaid, High Priestess Teti.

“She ruined my life! She attacked me!” Khenmet sobbed dramatically, her heavily kohl-lined eyes wide with feigned terror. “I only pushed her away to protect myself!”

Teti looked down at Merit with frightened eyes, tightly holding the distressed princess, but she did not dare move toward the fallen woman.

Merit lay on the cold stone floor, dressed in a simple linen gown, one hand desperately pressed against her heavily swollen pregnant belly. Her breathing was uneven. Her face was twisted in agonizing pain.

To anyone watching, she looked completely broken, a helpless victim of royal wrath.

But as she groaned on the floor, her fingers were already reaching deep inside the pocket of her linen robe.

Princess Khenmet kept crying louder, gesturing wildly to the servants in the hall.

“She has been trying to destroy my position since the day she entered this palace!” Khenmet shouted, her heavy golden jewelry clinking. “She wants the throne! She wants the lineage! She wants everything!”

Down on the floor, Merit slowly pulled a strange, glowing metallic device out of her pocket. It looked like an ancient, mystical artifact, pulsing with a bright blue light.

Her thumb pressed the center mechanism once.

Then again.

The device hummed to life, connecting a magical long-distance communication link.

Instantly, Merit's terrified, helpless expression faded. In its place came something cold, controlled, and deeply prepared. She held the glowing artifact close to her face and whispered urgently into it:

“Detective Reese… it’s already happened. Send everyone here.”

Then, her eyes widened in dark satisfaction. She tucked the device away and returned to playing the victim.

Because while the conspiracy was deep, the fall on the stairs was entirely real.
