CHAPTER 3: PARADISE LOST AND THE FINAL JUDGMENT

Confrontation in the Million-Dollar Penthouse

Marcus's target was Vance’s luxury penthouse office, reigning high above Manhattan in a New York skyscraper. Bypassing the biometric security with elite hacking precision, Marcus walked directly into Vance's inner sanctum. His tactical boots, caked in mud from the swampy escape, left filthy prints across the pristine white marble floor—a deliberate declaration of war.

Vance stood by the floor-to-ceiling glass window, casually swirling a glass of expensive scotch while looking out over the city skyline. Seeing Marcus enter, the CEO didn't flinch; instead, smug arrogance hardened his features. Leaning heavily on his executive desk, he mocked:

"You can’t beat the machine, old man. You don’t have the capital. You’re trespassing in my world now."

Marcus stood unmoved. He held himself with absolute authority, his hollow eyes cutting right through the traitor before him as he delivered a bone-chilling reply:

"I know."

The Elevator Trap and Final Judgment

Intending to escort Marcus out in the most humiliating fashion before handing him over to the state authorities, Vance personally marched him into a private glass elevator. Vance smugly pressed the button for the lower floors.

But the moment the doors glided open on the 48th floor, the tables turned spectacularly. A heavily armed SWAT platoon was already waiting in ambush. The second the threshold cleared, they raised their rifles, crisscrossing the space with dozens of piercing red laser sights.

Believing the tactical team was there to rescue him, Vance pointed a trembling finger at Marcus, screaming frantically:

"Shoot him!!! Shoot him!!!"

Yet, the cold black barrels and burning red lasers completely ignored Marcus. Instead, every single target dot locked onto the forehead and chest of Elias Vance. The color drained from the CEO’s face instantly, his eyes widening in sheer terror as he backed into the corner of the elevator.

Unbeknownst to Vance, while inside his bunker, Marcus had already broadcasted page 4 of the classified file—complete with Vance's digital signature and undeniable evidence of the Governor’s assassination—to national intelligence agencies and major media outlets. An emergency federal warrant for murder and treason had been executed.

The SWAT commander took a step forward, his rifle rock-solid, his voice echoing authoritatively inside the glass car:

"Target acquired. Elias Vance, drop the weapon and put your hands up!"

Amidst the flashing red emergency lights and the deafening wail of building alarms, Marcus turned to look at Vance. The rage in his eyes was gone, replaced by the chilling gaze of an apex predator closing in for the kill. A faint smirk touched his lips as he delivered the final verdict:

May you like

"Predatory."

A sharp, violent crack shattered the tension. In a flash, Marcus disarmed Vance, twisted his arm back, and slammed the traitorous executive face-first onto the mud-stained floor of the elevator. The cold, metallic click of handcuffs sealed Vance's fate. The breathless manhunt was over, ending in an absolute, dominant victory for the ghost operative on the highest peaks of New York.
