Chapter 11 - The Broadcast

They didn't stop until they reached a 24-hour diner on the outskirts of the city, miles away from the station.

Mark threw open the laptop on a sticky booth table, connecting the hard drive and the diner's unstable Wi-Fi.

"We can't go to the local news," Mark said, his fingers flying across the keyboard. "Arthur will intercept it."

"Then where?" Evelyn asked, watching the door nervously.

"Social media," Mark replied. "We bypass the gatekeepers. A live broadcast, straight to the public."

Mark logged into his Facebook account, which already had thousands of followers from his days running his tech startup.

He titled the stream: The Truth About the Vance Family Trust.

"You're up," Mark said, turning the webcam toward Evelyn.

Evelyn took a deep breath, staring into the little green light.

She hit 'Go Live.'

"My name is Evelyn Cross," she began, her voice steady and powerful. "Three years ago, Arthur Vance faked my death in a car crash to steal my family's company."

Within minutes, the viewer count skyrocketed from hundreds to thousands.

Evelyn held up the ledger, exposing the offshore accounts. Mark mirrored his screen, displaying the forged documents and patent transfers from the hard drive.

Then, he played the audio file. Arthur's distinct voice echoed through the diner, clearly ordering his men to cut Evelyn's brake lines.

The comments section exploded. The broadcast was being shared exponentially.

Through the diner window, Mark saw a black SUV pull into the parking lot. Arthur's men had tracked the IP address.

But as the men stepped out of the vehicle, the wail of sirens pierced the night air.

Federal agents—alerted by the viral stream and out of Arthur's jurisdiction—swarmed the parking lot, pinning the fixers to the ground.

The game was finally over.
