Chapter 4 - THE ACCUSATION: THE FINGER POINTING AT THE THRONE

Victoria straightened her dress with trembling hands, her eyes flashing with a dangerous, cornered panic. She forced a bitter, mocking laugh, trying desperately to regain control of the narrative before the elite audience could piece together the ugly truth.
“Look at him!” Victoria cried out to the crowd, pointing a shaking finger at me while playing the victim with theatrical perfection. “He’s lost his mind! Working himself to the bone overseas, letting stress turn him into a violent monster who strikes his own mother over a delusional hallucination! Security, throw him out and call the authorities for psychiatric evaluation!”
The crowd murmured in agreement, eager to believe the comforting lie that Julian Sterling had simply snapped under pressure. It was easier to blame my sanity than to look at the rotten core of the family dynasty.
I stood my ground, my heart hammering against my ribs, refusing to let her gaslight the room. “Don’t change the subject, Mother. Five thousand dollars a month. Every single month without fail, wired directly to the family account you manage. Elena has been starving in a locked room upstairs, and my daughter has been eating out of garbage cans. Where is the money?”
Victoria’s face paled beneath her heavy makeup, though she quickly masked it with a sneer. “Your wife is unstable, Julian. She refuses food because of her mental illness. The money went to her specialized medical care, elite doctors, private nurses, and facility fees. You’re too blind to see how sick she really is!”
“That is a lie,” a small, broken voice whispered from the depths of my chest.
The entire ballroom went dead silent once more. Every head snapped toward the child in my arms.
Sophia lifted one shaking finger and pointed directly at Victoria.

“Daddy…” Her whisper broke, trembling with a depth of trauma no six-year-old should ever possess. “Grandma is the one who... who locked Mommy in the dark room and took our food away. Grandma said we were parasites.”
The words dropped like a cluster bomb onto the marble floor. Victoria’s face drained of every drop of color, leaving her looking like a corpse wrapped in emerald silk.
