Chapter 10 - The Empire Endures

One year later.

The ballroom at the Sterling Grand Hotel was decorated once again.

But this time, it wasn't for a wedding built on lies.

It was the annual Sterling Foundation Charity Gala.

I stood at the top of the grand staircase, wearing a stunning, custom-made emerald gown.

Clara was asleep upstairs in the penthouse suite, watched over by her favorite nanny.

The room below was filled with the city's true elite.

No fake wealth.

No petty drama.

Julian stood at the bottom of the stairs, looking up at me.

We had been dating for eight months.

He offered his hand as I descended.

"You look breathtaking, Vivienne," he murmured, kissing my knuckles.

"Thank you," I smiled, feeling a genuine flush creep up my neck.

My father took the microphone on the main stage.

"Ladies and gentlemen," Arthur Sterling announced.

"Tonight, we celebrate not just the success of our business."

"But the future of it."

"Please welcome the new CEO of Sterling Global Holdings..."

"My daughter, Vivienne Sterling."

The applause was deafening.

I walked up to the stage, my head held high.

I looked out at the sea of faces.

I remembered standing in this exact room a year and a half ago.

My dress torn.

My dignity stripped.

Surrounded by people who wanted to break me.

They had tried to bury me beneath their arrogance and cruelty.

They didn't know they were planting a seed.

I took the microphone.

"Thank you," I said, my voice ringing clear and strong.

"We have built an empire on integrity, strength, and family."

"And I promise you, that empire is stronger than ever."

I caught Julian's eye, and he smiled proudly.

The ghosts of my past—Dominic, Chloe, Eleanor—were completely erased from my reality.

They were stuck in their miserable, self-made prisons.

I had reclaimed my name.

I had protected my child.

And I had finally found my voice.

The music swelled, the champagne flowed, and the night began.

May you like

The silence was gone forever.

And the future belonged entirely to me.
