Chapter 12 - The Unbroken Legacy

On a crisp Saturday morning in January, exactly three months after that fateful afternoon at Gate B17, I stood alone in my father’s old study in the Beacon Hill brownstone. The white lilies had been replaced by fresh red roses—my father’s favorite—arranged neatly in a crystal vase on his mahogany desk. I opened the large leather-bound family ledger to the very first page, where my father had written his founding mission statement back in 1984, long before Ethan, long before the lies, long before the betrayal. “Build on rock, not on sand. For what you build with your own hands, no man can take away.” I picked up a fountain pen with a gold nib, unscrewed the cap, and wrote a new entry directly beneath his words, sealing a chapter that would never be reopened. “The foundation holds.” I closed the ledger with a quiet, satisfying thud that echoed softly through the silent, peaceful room. Then I walked over to the tall windows, pushed the curtains wide open, and watched the winter sun break through the Boston clouds, flooding the room with a brilliant, golden light that stretched all the way to the horizon.
