Chapter 15 - The Baker, the Boss, and the Sunrise That Belonged to Both of Them

The sun began to crest the horizon over the Atlantic, painting the Boston skyline in brilliant shades of rose, gold, and violet.

Back at the Beacon Hill brownstone, the world was still asleep, but inside the warm, sunlit kitchen, the smell of freshly brewed coffee and warm vanilla pastry filled the air.

Nora stood by the marble counter wearing one of Vincent’s oversized white dress shirts, her bare legs tucked up onto a tall barstool as she dusted a batch of morning croissants with powdered sugar.

Vincent walked into the kitchen wearing a simple black t-shirt and dark trousers, stepping up behind her to wrap his arms around her waist, burying his face in the crook of her neck with a low, contented sigh.

"You're baking at five in the morning again," he mumbled sleepily against her skin.

"Someone has to keep the city running, Mr. Hale," she teased, turning around in his arms to offer him a warm, freshly glazed pastry.

Vincent took a bite, his dark eyes fixed entirely on her face—seeing her, loving her, holding her with the absolute certainty of a man who had finally found his home.

Outside the kitchen window, the city of Boston woke up to a new day, free of shadows, free of fear, and entirely ready for whatever the baker and the boss decided to build next.
