Chapter 8 - The Boardroom Verdict: Exile and Confiscation

With the evidence laid bare, the domestic staff standing united in defiance, and the forensic accountants holding the financial smoking gun, Richard Sterling stepped forward to deliver the final, irrevocable judgment. He raised Arthur Sterling’s mahogany cane, tapping the silver tip firmly against the floor once, twice, three times—the traditional signal for a formal board assembly, even within the casual confines of a family reception.

"Hear me, all of you," Richard announced, his voice carrying the uncontested weight of absolute sovereignty. "The internal audit conducted by Dr. Elena Vance, combined with the sworn testimonies of our domestic personnel and the verified forensic records of our corporate compliance division, confirms beyond any shadow of a doubt that Victoria Sterling has engaged in systematic corporate fraud, embezzlement of philanthropic funds, and severe workplace harassment."

Richard turned his cold, uncompromising gaze directly toward his niece, who was now clutching the marble pillar for dear life, tears of pure rage and humiliation streaming down her face, ruining her expensive makeup.

"By the unanimous emergency vote of the Sterling Family Trust Board executed thirty minutes ago," Richard declared, his words falling like a guillotine blade, "Victoria Sterling is hereby stripped of all executive titles, board seats, trust distributions, and corporate affiliations with Sterling Enterprises, effective immediately."

Victoria let out a piercing, hysterical shriek, pushing herself off the pillar and lunging forward toward her uncle. "You can't do this! I am a Sterling! This is my birthright! You're ruining me over a bunch of lying servants and a senile old woman!"

Before Victoria could take two steps, two private security guards who had entered quietly from the side doors stepped into her path, crossing their massive arms to block her forward movement. They didn't touch her violently, but their presence was an insurmountable wall of immovable force.

"Furthermore," Richard continued, completely unfazed by Victoria’s breakdown, "all personal assets acquired through funds embezzled from the corporate accounts—including your Manhattan penthouse, your Hamptons estate, your luxury vehicle fleet, and all offshore holdings—are hereby frozen and subjected to immediate civil asset forfeiture proceedings. You leave this manor tonight with exactly what you brought into it: nothing."

Margaret maneuvered her motorized wheelchair forward just a few inches, her expression no longer portraying the fragile, trembling victim of the first act, but rather the iron-willed matriarch who had forged a multi-billion-dollar empire out of post-war rubble.

"You wanted to throw me onto the streets, Victoria," Margaret said, her voice smooth, calm, and utterly devastating in its quiet composure. "You wanted to watch me beg, to watch me crawl away in shame. But true strength is never found in how loudly you scream, how expensive your dress is, or how cruelly you treat those who serve you. True strength is character, patience, and justice. And tonight, justice has claimed its own."

Victoria collapsed to her knees on the Italian marble floor, her expensive cobalt-blue silk gown pooling around her like a puddle of stagnant water. Her hands covered her face as deep, wracking sobs of absolute defeat shook her entire body. The glittering socialites looked down at her with cold detachment, stepping slightly aside as the security guards gently but firmly lifted her by her arms, hoisting her to her feet and escorting her toward the heavy oak exit doors of the manor. The heavy wooden panels swung open, revealing the cold, dark Manhattan night outside, and slammed shut behind her with a definitive, echoing boom, sealing her exile from the dynasty forever.
