Chapter 15 - “The Legacy of Truth”

Back in Chicago, the autumn sun shone brightly over the newly dedicated Miller-Bellmont Foundation center.
The grand opening was a quiet, intimate affair, far removed from the glittering, superficial chaos of the Bellmont Hotel ballroom where it all began.
No crystal chandeliers.
No string quartets playing beneath golden lights.
Just a simple, sunlit courtyard filled with families, children laughing, and single mothers finding a new beginning in a world that had once closed its doors to them.
At the center of the courtyard stood Anna Miller, wearing a simple elegant dress, laughing as a young child handed her a painted flower.
A few yards away, leaning against a stone pillar with a cup of coffee in hand, stood Ethan.
He wore a dark jacket, his expression completely relaxed, a genuine smile gracing his face.
Footsteps approached from behind him.
Ethan turned to see a familiar figure walking across the courtyard—a much older, slower man dressed in a simple wool coat, leaning slightly on a wooden cane.
Richard Bellmont stopped beside his son.
For a long moment, neither man spoke.
The Chicago skyline rose tall and proud in the distance, a monument to ambition and power—but here, on the ground level, life was built on something much stronger.
“She looks happy,” Richard said quietly, his voice raspy with emotion as he watched Anna across the courtyard.
“She is,” Ethan replied, looking at his father with a steady, unburdened gaze. “We all are.”
Richard turned his head to look at his son, the lines of regret on his face softening into profound peace.
“Thank you, Ethan,” Richard whispered. “For not letting me stay in the dark.”
Ethan nodded slowly, raising his coffee cup in a quiet gesture of reconciliation.
