Chapter 5 - THE EXECUTIONER’S STRIKE: FREEZING THE EMPIRE

At 8:30 AM sharp, the automatic glass doors of the First National Bank corporate headquarters slid open, and I walked through the lobby wearing a tailored charcoal suit, my face an impenetrable mask of cold marble.

I walked straight up to the private banking division and asked for the senior vice president of asset management, a man I had known through previous corporate accounts. Within ten minutes, I was seated in a plush, soundproof glass office across from him, sliding my laptop and my verified legal credentials across the mahogany desk.

“Daniel, my friend, what brings you in so early? I thought you were still stationed overseas,” the VP greeted warmly, extending a hand.

“My plans changed, Arthur,” I said, my voice deadpan. “I need to execute a total asset freeze and immediate forensic audit across all joint accounts, personal holdings, and lines of credit associated with myself and my wife, Vanessa Sterling.”

Arthur blinked, surprised by the sudden, grim tone in my voice. “An asset freeze? Daniel, that’s a drastic step. It will lock down all credit cards, mortgage payments, and liquid cash instantly. Are you sure?”

I slid a printed copy of the court-ready affidavit and the certified domestic abuse police report across the desk, followed by the bank statements showing unauthorized multi-million-dollar wire transfers to offshore accounts.

“My wife has been systematically embezzling my funds, committing financial fraud under duress, and physically abusing my elderly mother,” I said quietly, locking eyes with him. “If you don’t lock those accounts down in the next sixty seconds, I will hold this institution liable for facilitating unauthorized fraudulent transfers.”

Arthur took one look at the documents, swallowed hard, and immediately reached for his telephone.

Within four minutes, the master financial lockdown was initiated. Vanessa’s personal credit cards were instantly declined at every high-end boutique in the city. Her debit cards were swallowed by ATMs. The online banking portals for all joint and secondary accounts showed a frozen status with zero available liquidity.

Next, I dialed my corporate attorney, Harrison Cole.

“Harrison, did you receive the digital dossier?” I asked the moment he answered.

“Daniel,” Harrison’s voice came through the receiver, sharp and crackling with excitement. “I just finished reviewing the files. Good grief, man. This isn’t just a divorce case; this is a masterclass in white-collar crime. You’ve got them dead to rights on aggravated elder abuse, grand larceny, forgery, extortion, and corporate conspiracy.”

“I want to move immediately,” I commanded. “File for an emergency expedited divorce on the grounds of extreme physical and psychological cruelty, request a total forfeiture of marital assets due to criminal malfeasance, and prepare criminal indictments for both Vanessa Sterling and Marcus Vance.”

“Consider it done,” Harrison replied smoothly. “By noon today, federal marshals and local police will be serving arrest warrants. And regarding your corporate boss, Marcus Vance? I’ve already forwarded a copy of the embezzlement logs to the board of directors and the federal securities oversight committee. His corporate office is probably being raided as we speak.”
