Chapter 8 - A NEW DAWN AT THE COLE ESTATE

Three months later, the grounds of the Cole estate were transformed into a breathtaking wonderland of white roses, cascading ivy, and warm, twinkling fairy lights strung through the branches of the ancient oak trees.

It was a wedding unlike anything Seattle’s high society had ever witnessed—not because of extravagant tabloid excess or superficial celebrity guest lists, but because of its raw, profound authenticity.

There were no snobbish socialites whispering behind cupped hands.

There were no fake corporate allies calculating political leverage.

There were only true friends, trusted legal advisors who had stood by Nathan through thick and thin, and a handful of loyal medical staff from Cole Memorial Hospital who had cared for Grace during her recovery.

Under a magnificent floral archway in the estate's private sunken garden, Nathan stood tall and proud in a classic black tuxedo, his grey eyes shining with unshed tears of pure, overwhelming joy.

To his right, little Lily stood as the most adorable flower girl imaginable, wearing a custom ivory dress with a matching flower crown in her dark curls, clutching a tiny basket of rose petals tightly in her hands.

Then, the soft, elegant strains of a classical violin quartet began to play.

The heavy garden gates swung open.

Grace walked down the stone aisle on the arm of her elderly uncle—her only living relative, who had flown in from out of state for the occasion.

She wore a breathtaking, off-the-shoulder ivory lace gown that hugged her slender figure with effortless grace, her left shoulder completely healed and free of any visible scars.

Her dark hair was styled in soft, cascading waves, and her face radiated an ethereal, breathtaking beauty that took Nathan’s breath away all over again.

As she reached the altar, her uncle placed her hand gently into Nathan’s waiting grasp.

“Take care of my girl, son,” the older man whispered warmly.

“Always,” Nathan replied with a firm, reverent nod.

They turned to face the presiding judge—a trusted federal magistrate and longtime family friend who beamed proudly as he opened the leather-bound ceremony ledger.

“We are gathered here today,” the judge began, his rich voice carrying clearly across the quiet garden, “not merely to witness a union of two individuals, but to celebrate the miraculous restoration of a family forged by truth, tested by adversity, and bound by unbreakable love.”

The vows were simple, deeply personal, and spoken with a raw honesty that brought tears to the eyes of nearly everyone in attendance.

When Nathan slid the platinum and diamond wedding band onto Grace’s finger, his hands were remarkably steady, anchored by the absolute certainty that his life was finally complete.

And when Grace slipped the matching band onto Nathan’s finger, she offered a sweet, radiant smile that made the spring sunlight seem dim by comparison.

“By the power vested in me,” the judge declared with a beaming smile, “I now pronounce you husband and wife.”

“Nathan, you may kiss your bride.”

Nathan didn't hesitate; he gently cupped Grace’s face with his hands and pulled her into a deep, passionate, soul-stirring kiss that made little Lily giggle and clap her hands with delight while the guests erupted into thunderous applause and cheers.
