Chapter 12 - THE FINAL VERDICT

Arthur didn't drop the pipe. Instead, he gripped it tighter, feeling the surge of raw energy coursing through his legs—the very miracle Marcus was so desperate to steal.
“You think you can control what she does, Marcus?” Arthur said, his voice echoing off the sterile tile walls. “You think immortality is something you can harvest in a test tube?”
“I don't need to control it; I just need to own it,” Marcus replied, gesturing to the guards. “Take the baby.”
As the lead guard stepped forward, reaching out a gloved hand toward Julian, little Rose suddenly stirred beneath her worn woolen blanket.
The infant’s tiny hand slipped out into the cold laboratory air. Her fingers opened, and a sudden, blinding flash of pure, warm golden light erupted from her tiny palm, filling the sterile room with an intense, radiant warmth.
The armed guards froze instantly, dropping their weapons as their bodies went rigid, their eyes glazing over in absolute awe. Even Marcus stumbled backward, shielding his eyes from the impossible brilliance.
Underneath the table, Arthur felt a massive wave of energy surge upward through his entire body—not just healing his legs, but stripping away years of age, fatigue, and bitterness in a single blinding second.
With a roar of fury and reclaimed strength, Arthur lunged forward across the laboratory floor, swinging the heavy pipe with the force of a man half his age.
The pipe struck Marcus squarely across the chest, sending the corporate director crashing backward into the central cryogenic glass console with a deafening crash of shattering glass and hissing liquid nitrogen.
Alarms wailed through the facility, red emergency strobes flashing overhead as the automated security protocols locked down the entire subterranean level, trapping Marcus beneath a cascade of frost and shattered equipment.
“It’s over, Marcus,” Arthur panted, standing tall over the fallen director as the guards slumped unconscious to the floor around them.
Julian stared in stunned silence, holding the sleeping baby safely against his chest as the golden light faded back into a soft, gentle warmth.
An hour later, the sirens of federal law enforcement echoed down the subterranean access tunnels—not summoned by Marcus, but triggered by the automated corporate fraud protocols Arthur had manually uploaded to the SEC mainframe using the terminal back in the bunker.
Standing outside the loading docks in the crisp morning air, Arthur watched as the federal agents led Marcus Thorne away in handcuffs, his expensive suit ruined and his corporate empire collapsing into dust around him.
Julian stood beside Arthur, holding Maya and Toby's hands, looking out at the rising sun breaking over the city skyline.
“What do we do now, Mr. Vance?” Julian asked quietly.
May you like
Arthur looked down at his steady, unyielding legs, then over at the three children who had brought him back from the dead. He smiled—not with the bitter cynicism of his past, but with the quiet warmth of a grandfather who finally had something worth living for.
“We go home,” Arthur said, placing a steady hand on Julian’s shoulder. “All of us.”
