Chapter 15 - Queen of New England: The New Dawn of the Vale Empire

The sunrise over Boston harbor on Monday morning painted the city skyline in brilliant shades of gold, amber, and deep crimson.
Standing on the private marble balcony of the Vale Global penthouse suite, I looked out over the sprawling metropolis where every single tower, financial institution, and dark alleyway bowed in silent recognition to my family’s name.
I wore an immaculate midnight-blue silk dress that hugged my gently rounded eight-month pregnant belly, my hair falling in soft waves across my shoulders.
Resting securely against my collarbone, catching the morning sunlight with a brilliant, mesmerizing flash of deep blue fire, was the original silver four-pointed star necklace my father had given me years ago.
“Luck disappears, Evie. Direction doesn’t.”
The words echoed softly in my mind, carrying the absolute truth of a dynasty built not on fragile hopes, but on iron discipline, calculated power, and absolute loyalty.
Behind me, the balcony doors slid open softly.
Adrian Vale stepped out onto the marble terrace, holding a delicate crystal cup of steaming black coffee, his silver-streaked dark hair catching the crisp morning breeze.
He stood beside me, looking out over the city that bowed to our feet.
“How are you feeling this morning, Evie?” he asked quietly, his deep voice carrying a rare, profound warmth that only I was privileged to hear.
“Strong, Dad,” I replied, resting my right hand gently over my stomach where my daughter gave a powerful, reassuring kick against my palm. “Stronger than I’ve ever been in my life.”
“The transition of the board of directors at Boston Mutual is complete,” Adrian noted casually, taking a sip of his coffee. “Every asset formerly touched by the Mercer family has been legally absorbed into our private trust. Your name is now registered as the primary controlling shareholder of New England’s largest financial infrastructure.”
“Good,” I said, a thin, confident smile curving my lips. “Let it serve as a permanent reminder to anyone in this city who forgets who built the ground they walk on.”
Graham Pierce stepped onto the balcony from the suite interior, holding a secure encrypted tablet displaying the morning intelligence briefs.
“Miss Vale, Boss,” Graham nodded respectfully. “Travis Mercer has been successfully transferred to USP Marion under maximum-security isolation. Paige Holloway has begun her first week of hard labor processing in the federal correctional facility. And Colleen Mercer has relocated to a modest two-room apartment in the industrial district, fully stripped of every luxury she once weaponized against others.”
I turned away from the skyline, looking at the two men who had protected me, guided me, and ensured that my family’s honor was restored with terrifying efficiency.
“Let them live out their normal, fragile lives,” I said softly, the wind catching the silver star at my throat. “They wanted a world without us. Instead, they discovered what happens when you awaken a Vale.”
Adrian wrapped a strong, protective arm around my shoulders, pulling me close as my daughter kicked once more, eager to enter a world she would one day rule.

In her place stood Queen Evangeline Vale, ready to lead her empire into a future where direction, power, and retribution would never, ever be questioned again.
