Chapter 10 - THE TRUE ARCHITECT OF MY DESTINY

Saturday morning dawned bright and clear, washing the suburban estate in a warm, golden glow that felt like a personal blessing from the universe.
I woke up naturally at 7:00 a.m., stretching my limbs without a single twinge of pain in my ribs, enjoying the absolute luxury of silence that filled the master bedroom.
There was no angry hammering on the door.
There was no screeching voice demanding eggs and bacon.
There was no condescending mother-in-law lurking in the hallway waiting to criticize my existence.
There was only me, my home, and the boundless horizon of an unwritten future.
I walked down to the kitchen, brewed a fresh cup of coffee, and stepped out onto the back patio to breathe in the crisp morning air.
The world outside was moving at its own steady pace, entirely indifferent to the dramatic downfalls of men who thought they could own women like property.
My tablet buzzed quietly on the patio table beside my coffee cup.
I picked it up and tapped the screen to check my emails.
An automated legal update from the federal district court popped up instantly:
‘Case No. 4489-CR: United States v. Daniel Mercer. Motion for pretrial release denied. Defendant remanded to federal custody pending trial.’
I swiped the notification away, archiving the message into the digital folder labeled ‘Closed Chapters.’
I didn’t feel hatred toward Daniel anymore.
I didn't feel anger toward Margaret.
Hatred and anger required an investment of emotional energy, and those two pathetic parasites had already stolen far too much of my life already.
They were simply chapters in a book I had finished writing—chapters filled with pain, betrayal, and hard-earned lessons, but ultimately leading to the most important realization a woman could ever make.
I didn't need a man to validate my existence, finance my dreams, or protect my home.
I was the architect.
May you like
I was the builder.
And I was the sole owner of every single square foot of my destiny.
