Chapter 6: The Birth
Three weeks later, Clara went into labor.
Ethan was by her side the entire time — holding her hand, encouraging her, crying when their daughter was born.
When the nurse placed the baby in his arms, Ethan looked down at her with tears in his eyes.
“I promise you,” he whispered, “no one will ever hurt you or your mother. Not while I’m still breathing.”
