Chapter 15 - The Horizon of Croft Estate and the Beginning of Forever

Two weeks after the eviction of Richard Hayes, the Olympic Peninsula had returned to a state of profound, hard-earned tranquility.

Julian Blackwood’s attempted legal maneuver—the secretive purchase of my father’s fraudulent promissory notes—had collapsed spectacularly within forty-eight hours of our counter-offensive.

Croft Industries’ legal team had exposed the illicit shell corporation links to federal banking regulators, resulting in an immediate freeze on Blackwood’s regional timber assets and a federal investigation into his predatory acquisition practices.

Vivian Mercer had vanished back to Zurich before the subpoenas could reach her, her alliance with Blackwood shattered before it ever truly began.

The Cascade Pack was thriving.

The new administrative center was fully operational, our forestry supply lines were running at peak efficiency, and for the first time in five years, every single family in our community had a secure home, a funded clinic, and a future they could look forward to without the haunting shadow of impending bankruptcy.

And upstairs, in the master suite of Croft Estate overlooking the churning blue waves of the Pacific Ocean, things had changed in ways I never could have imagined when I first walked through those double doors as the eighth candidate.

I stood on the private balcony, the morning sun warming my shoulders, holding a mug of coffee while watching the seagulls dip and dive over the surf.

Footsteps sounded behind me.

Strong, steady, and entirely free of hesitation.

Kane stepped out onto the balcony, wrapped his arms around my waist from behind, and rested his chin comfortably on my shoulder.

“You’re quiet this morning,” he murmured, his deep voice vibrating against my spine.

“Just thinking,” I smiled, leaning back against his chest.

“About what?”

“About how funny life is. Five months ago, I thought I was walking into a slaughterhouse to trade my life for a three-million-dollar mistake.”

Kane let out a low, rich chuckle, tightening his grip around my waist.

“And instead?”

“Instead,” I turned in his arms, looking up into his warm, steady golden eyes, “I audited a monster, tore up a bad contract, and accidentally found my forever.”

Kane’s expression softened into something profoundly tender.

He reached up, his calloused fingers gently tracing the line of my jawline, his gaze locking onto mine with an unshakeable, absolute devotion.

“You didn't find a monster, Harper,” Kane whispered, leaning down to press his lips softly against mine.

“You found a man who was simply waiting for the right woman to ask him if he was tired, so he could finally lay down his armor.”

The kiss deepened—warm, unhurried, and filled with all the promises of a future we would build together.

The ledgers were closed.

The debts were paid.

And the reign of the Alpha King and his Luna had only just begun.
