Chapter 3 - LEGAL WARFARE AND FROZEN ASSETS

The next morning, I bypassed the office and drove straight to downtown Manhattan to meet with Arthur Vance, the most ruthless corporate litigation and asset-recovery attorney in the city. Arthur had helped me structure my international contracts years ago, and I knew he possessed the exact brand of cold efficiency required for this situation.
His office on the forty-fifth floor overlooked a gray, freezing skyline that matched my internal mood. Arthur sat behind a massive mahogany desk, listening in absolute silence as I laid out the timeline, the bank statements, and finally slid the encrypted flash drive across the polished wood.
“Let me get this straight,” Arthur said, his voice deep and measured as he tapped a slender pen against the desk. “Your biological mother and sister systematically cleaned out an account designated for postpartum medical care, left your wife and newborn baby in a freezing unheated apartment with no food, and documented their luxury escape on social media while you were abroad?”
“That is correct,” I replied evenly, leaning back in my leather chair. “And I have high-definition video footage of them executing the transfers and discussing the deception explicitly.”
Arthur picked up the flash drive, a slow, predatory smile creeping across the corners of his mouth. “Well, Luca, this isn’t just a simple family dispute or civil disagreement. This crosses heavily into felony grand larceny, financial elder and dependent abuse given your wife's medical vulnerability, and wire fraud.”
“I don’t want a messy public trial that drags my wife’s name through the mud,” I stated firmly. “I want their accounts frozen, their credit destroyed, their luxury trip abruptly terminated, and a court order that strips them of any legal leverage before they even realize what hit them.”
“Consider it done,” Arthur said, reaching for his desk phone. “We won’t just freeze the accounts they stole from. We’ll file emergency injunctions across every asset they own, freeze their personal credit lines, and issue a bench warrant tied directly to federal wire fraud statutes if they attempt to flee jurisdiction.”
For the next two hours, we sat in his office drafting ironclad legal documents, asset seizure requests, and formal criminal affidavits. Arthur’s legal team moved with terrifying speed, filing emergency motions before midday judges who took a remarkably dim view of financial abuse against postpartum mothers.
By the time I walked out of the skyscraper and into the cold afternoon air, the legal machinery was already humming to life. My mother’s credit cards had been instantly flagged, her personal bank accounts locked pending judicial review, and the luxury Miami hotel had been served with notice regarding fraudulent funding tied to stolen corporate and personal assets.

My phone rang as I stepped into the back of my town car. It was a call from an unknown Miami number, likely the front desk of the Grand Horizon or perhaps my mother herself realizing her afternoon mimosa was suddenly being declined by the register.
I let it ring out, watching the screen illuminate the dark interior of the car before going black. They were still sipping champagne by the pool, blissfully ignorant of the legal avalanche rolling downhill toward them at terminal velocity. The countdown to their complete financial and social ruin had officially begun, and I had a front-row seat.
