Chapter 10 - The Phantom Returns

The boardroom at Moretti Global was a theater of mahogany and glass, overlooking the city skyline.
Vanessa stood at the head of the long table, wearing a stunning white suit, radiating confidence.
Julian sat to her right, a smug smile playing on his lips.
Marcus and I were parked in the van a block away, watching a live feed from a hidden camera Dante’s loyalists had installed that morning.
My arm throbbed, but the adrenaline kept the pain at bay.
“Ladies and gentlemen of the board,” Vanessa began, placing her hands on the table.
“We have endured a terrible tragedy. But today, we secure the future. By signing these documents, you authorize my permanent position as CEO.”
The twelve board members murmured in agreement, reaching for their pens.
“Don't sign anything.”
The heavy oak doors swung open.
Dante Moretti walked into the room.
He wore a custom black suit, no bandage on his head, looking exactly like the untouchable titan he was.
The room erupted into chaos.
Chairs scraped backward. People gasped.
Vanessa’s face drained of all color, turning a sickly, ash-white.
Julian dropped his pen, staring as if he’d seen a ghost.
“Dante?” Vanessa whispered, her voice trembling. “How… you’re dead. They found your car.”
“Reports of my death were highly profitable to you, my dear,” Dante said smoothly, walking slowly around the table.
“Did you really think cut brakes would be enough to stop me?”
Julian recovered first, standing up abruptly.
“Security! This man is an impostor! Mr. Moretti is dead!”

Two of Vanessa’s loyal guards stepped into the room, reaching for their weapons.
But they were instantly disarmed by Marcus, who stepped in right behind Dante, flanked by heavily armed federal agents.
