Chapter 9 - No Forgiveness

I walked over to the folding table where Victor was cowering on the floor. His expensive suit was ruined by dirt, grease, and his own sweat. He looked up at me, his face pale with absolute terror. "Harper?" he stammered, finally recognizing my eyes beneath the tactical gear. "Is that... is that you?" I didn't answer. I kicked his chair out of the way, grabbed him by the collar, and dragged him violently to his feet. "You touched my daughter," I said, my voice as cold as ice.

"I didn't hurt her!" he pleaded, raising his trembling hands. "It was just a misunderstanding! Your mother said—" I slammed him back onto the table, cutting him off. "I don't care what my mother said. You left bruises on her wrists. You terrified her." He started crying, tears streaming down his face as his arrogant facade crumbled. "I'll pay you! Whatever you want! Money! I'll leave the country!" I stared at the pathetic creature before me. Years ago, he had preyed on vulnerable people in our family, always buying his way out of consequences. But not today.

"You think money fixes this?" I asked, pulling a thick folder from my vest and throwing it onto his chest. "Those are your offshore accounts. While you were sitting in the dark, my team drained every single one of them." His eyes widened in absolute shock. "Everything?" he whispered. "Every penny," I confirmed. "It has been donated to charities for abused children. You're broke, Victor. Furthermore, my team just sent a very detailed file of your illegal smuggling operations to the FBI, the DEA, and Interpol."

Sirens began to wail in the distance, growing louder by the second. "They will be here in two minutes," I told him, watching the despair wash over his face. "You are going to a federal maximum-security prison, and I made sure they know exactly what kind of man you are. You won't last a week." He fell to his knees, sobbing hysterically, begging me for mercy, even begging me to just shoot him instead. I holstered my weapon and looked down at him in disgust. "Death is too easy for you, Victor." I turned my back on him and walked out the side door into the rainy night, leaving him to face his ruin.
