Part 2: The Cadillac Deception

Part 2: The Cadillac Deception

(Scene: The icy driveway of the sprawling family estate. The wind howls, biting through the thin jacket of the woman, CLARA. She stands trembling, holding her infant tight against her chest. The Cadillac is idling, its engine a low, menacing rumble.)

Clara: (Her voice is a jagged, broken whisper, directed at the man behind the wheel, GRANDPA)

Please... she’s lying. Lauren didn't drive me here. She took the keys! She left me at the side of the road with nothing but this bike!

(LAUREN, the young woman in the fur coat, steps closer to the car, her expression one of practiced, patronizing concern.)

Lauren: Grandpa, look at her. She’s spiraling again. She really needs to be in that facility, for the baby's safety if not for her own.

Grandpa: (His face is a mask of stern, cold authority. He doesn't look at Lauren. He keeps his gaze fixed on Clara.)

Clara. In. The. Car.

(Clara shakes her head, backing away toward the stone gate. She looks into the tinted window of the car, trying to catch Grandpa’s eye, searching for the man who once loved her. He isn't there.)

Clara: You don’t understand! She’s been draining the trust funds! She’s the one who’s been forging the documents! Check the glove compartment, Grandpa! Check the registration!

(Grandpa stares at her for a long, silent moment. His brow furrows slightly. He looks from Clara’s panicked face to Lauren’s composed, smiling features. He sighs, a weary sound, and slowly steps out of the car.)

Grandpa: Enough. Lauren, move aside.

(Lauren hesitates, her smile faltering for the first time. She takes a step back as Grandpa walks toward the car, but she doesn't move toward the house. She lingers.)

Grandpa: (To Clara, his voice now lower, almost gentle)

Clara. Show me.

(Clara rushes to the car. Her hands shake so violently she can barely open the glove box. She finds the registration. She holds it up to the light. It’s not in Lauren’s name. It’s in a corporate holding company name: ‘L&L Holdings.’)

Clara: Look! L&L. Lauren and... who, Grandpa? Who is the 'L' partner?

(Grandpa takes the document. His eyes scan the fine print. His face drains of all color. He doesn't need to look up to know who the other 'L' is. He looks at his own hands, then at the sprawling estate behind them.)

Grandpa: (A whisper)

My lawyer.

(Grandpa turns slowly toward the house. He doesn't look at Clara. He looks at the dark, silent windows of his own home.)

Grandpa: Lauren. Come here.

(Lauren walks forward, her posture rigid, her face carefully composed. But as she gets closer, the mask starts to slip. Her eyes shift, betraying a deep, frantic desperation.)

Lauren: Grandpa, she’s manipulating you. This is exactly what she does—

Grandpa: (He reaches into his jacket and pulls out a small, encrypted thumb drive.)

I installed a tracker on this car three weeks ago, Lauren. Not because I didn't trust you. But because I didn't trust the voices I was hearing in the hallways at night.

(He tosses the thumb drive to the ground at her feet. It lands in the slush with a wet thud.)

Grandpa: That drive contains every phone call you’ve had with my attorney for the last six months. The ones where you discussed how to institutionalize Clara to get access to the estate. And the ones where you discussed how to remove me.

(The air in the driveway turns arctic. Lauren freezes, staring at the thumb drive. The confident, fur-coated heiress disappears, replaced by a cold, hollow shadow of a person. She looks at Grandpa, then at Clara. She doesn't scream. She doesn't plead. She simply smiles.)

Lauren: (Her voice is a razor-thin, venomous hiss)

You think you’re so smart, old man? You think you’ve won?

(She reaches into her purse and pulls out a small, metallic remote. She presses a button. Instantly, the Cadillac’s engine cuts out, but the security gate behind them slams shut, locking them inside the driveway.)

Lauren: I didn't just plan for you to figure it out. I planned for this exact moment.

(From the shadows of the estate’s landscaping, two dark SUVs roll into the driveway, blocking the path and headlights blinding everyone.)

Lauren: You’re not the one in control, Grandpa. You never were. The 'L' in that holding company isn't just your lawyer. It’s the firm that handles all your competitors’ interests. And they’re not here to talk.

(The doors to the SUVs swing open, revealing men in dark, tactical gear. Grandpa stands tall, but his face is aged by ten years in a single second. He shields Clara and the baby, staring at the oncoming tide of men.)

Grandpa: (A final, broken whisper)
