Chapter 12 - The Constellation Complete

The autumn breeze rustled through the manicured gardens of the Salvini estate, carrying the faint scent of pine and rain.
Audrey stood on the wide stone terrace, holding a warm cup of coffee while watching the sun rise over the quiet Chicago horizon.
The black ledger sat locked away in the estate’s vault, and the enemies who had threatened their peace had been permanently swept from the board.
Heavy footstep echoed behind her on the flagstone patio, followed by the familiar, comforting warmth of a wool jacket draped gently over her shoulders.
“You’re up early,” Joseph said softly, standing beside her to lean against the stone balustrade.
“Hard to sleep when you realize your entire life changed in the span of a week,” Audrey replied with a faint, genuine smile.
Rose walked out through the glass doors a moment later, holding a tray of pastries and handing a warm croissant to her daughter.
“Well, you don't have to serve tables anymore, that’s for sure,” Rose joked, her eyes sparkling with a happiness she hadn't felt in twenty years.
Joseph held up his left wrist, rolling back his sleeve to reveal the unique constellation tattoo that had started it all at the Golden Crown restaurant.
“And neither do we,” Joseph said, looking between Rose and Audrey with quiet pride.
Audrey rolled back her own sweater sleeve, revealing the small, delicate constellation tattoo she had secretly gotten inked on her wrist just yesterday afternoon to match theirs.
Rose gasped softly, her eyes filling with happy tears as she reached out to touch her daughter’s arm.
“The Orion belt,” Rose whispered, looking up at Joseph with a radiant smile. “The circle is finally complete.”

Joseph pulled both of them into his arms, holding his family close as the morning sun finally broke through the clouds, bathing the entire estate in golden light.
The wars of the underworld were silenced, the secrets were buried in the past, and the Salvini family was finally, truly home.
