Chapter 7 - THE JUDICIAL ENTRAPMENT: TURNING THE TABLES ON A CORRUPT CIRCUIT COURT JUDGE

By sunrise, Richard had bypassed local authorities entirely, taking the forensic spreadsheet directly to the United States Attorney’s Office for the Northern District, where he held deep, unassailable ties from his early days as a federal prosecutor.

The federal prosecutor, a hard-nosed woman named Assistant U.S. Attorney Sarah Vance (no relation to Marcus), stared at the financial ledgers with eyes that burned with righteous indignation.

“A sitting circuit court judge taking corporate kickbacks through a family laundering proxy,” A.U.S.A. Vance murmured, tapping her pen against her desk. “Richard, if this wire-transfer chain holds up in federal court, Judge Pendelton is looking at twenty years for RICO violations and honest services fraud.”

“The chain is bulletproof, Sarah,” Richard stated calmly, sliding a second thumb drive across the desk. “And I have the audio recording of Elena boasting about her influence over Pendelton’s docket during a phone call recorded by my estate’s smart hub.”

“Good,” A.U.S.A. Vance nodded, sliding the drive into her secure terminal. “Here is what we’re going to do. We don't arrest Pendelton yet. We set a trap.”

“A trap?”

“Yes. We let Elena think she can post bail through her offshore proxy accounts. When she attempts to wire fifty thousand dollars to Pendelton’s campaign manager as a ‘retainer fee’ for emergency legal maneuvering, our federal cyber-units will flag the transfer in real time, capturing both of them red-handed accepting a direct bribe.”

Richard stood up, offering a cold, razor-sharp smile. “Do it. I want every single tentacle of this corruption ring severed by the end of the week.”
