Chapter 11 - THE DAWN OF A NEW ERA: SECURING THE FAMILY LEGACY IN WESTCHESTER

By sunrise, the paperwork transferring the Carrington family’s final shipping assets to Voss Holdings had been legally recorded, officially cementing Adrian’s absolute, unchallengeable monopoly over New York’s entire maritime logistics network.
Back at the old brick house in Westchester, the morning sun was bathing the gardens in brilliant shades of gold and amber.
I sat on the wooden front porch, drinking a cup of hot black coffee, watching Grandpa Walter test out a newly engineered motion-sensor security turret he had built in his workshop.
The turret pivoted smoothly, tracking a robotic drone flying overhead before issuing a polite, automated chime.
“Works like a charm!” Grandpa Walter laughed proudly, walking out onto the porch with a wrench in his hand. “Not even a KGB cyber-operative could bypass these optical sensors without tripping a silent alarm in Adrian’s main server.”
“You’re spoiling him, Grandpa,” I smiled, taking a sip of my coffee as Adrian walked up the porch steps, carrying two fresh pastries from a bakery in Manhattan.
Adrian kissed my forehead, handed a pastry to Grandpa, and leaned against the porch railing, looking out over the manicured lawn.
“The Carrington assets have been fully integrated into the corporate grid,” Adrian reported quietly. “Senior Carrington has retired to Florida, Preston is working a calculator in Ohio, and Madeline is currently trying to figure out how to pay her rent in Queens without a social safety net.”
“And the Bratva?” I asked, tilting my head.
“Neutralized,” Adrian murmured, his obsidian eyes softening as he looked down at me. “New York is quiet, Camille. Permanently quiet.”
I stood up from my rocking chair, wrapped my arms around Adrian’s waist, and rested my head against his chest, feeling the steady, powerful beat of his heart.
For years, I had believed that I was just a pawn in someone else’s game—used, erased, and discarded by men who thought they owned the world.
I had been completely wrong.

I wasn't a pawn.
I was the diamond bride of the most powerful man in America, ruling an empire built on truth, loyalty, and absolute protection.
