Chapter 7 - The Interrogation of Ximena

Inside the gleaming corporate headquarters of Apex-Prescott Global—now operating as the primary administrative hub for my newly consolidated holdings—the seventeenth-floor conference room had been temporarily converted into a legal interrogation suite.

I sat at the head of the conference table, sipping black coffee, watching through the one-way glass as Raymond conducted a masterclass in corporate cross-examination.

Ximena sat across from Raymond, her posture stiff, her face pale under the harsh fluorescent lights.

The arrogant, condescending executive assistant who had routinely denied my daughter’s prescriptions was completely gone.

In her place was a terrified bureaucrat realizing she was about to take the fall for a billionaire’s illegal schemes.

“Let’s review Exhibit C, Ximena,” Raymond said smoothly, sliding a document across the table.

“This is an internal expense report dated six months ago, authorizing one hundred and fifty thousand dollars in operational funds to be redirected toward a shell company named Sterling Holdings. Do you recognize your digital signature on this authorization?”

Ximena swallowed hard, her hands trembling as she stared at the paper.

“Mr. Fairchild… Mr. Brendan Fairchild instructed me to sign it,” Ximena stammered, her voice cracking.

“He said it was an executive bonus allocation for private consulting.”

“Private consulting,” Raymond repeated, his voice dripping with dry irony.

“Which actually paid for Miss Samantha Hayes’s Back Bay penthouse and her personal jewelry collection, while Mrs. Fairchild was repeatedly forced to submit emergency portal requests just to buy insulin and heart medication for her dying child.”

“I was just following corporate protocol!” Ximena protested, her voice rising in panic.

“Mr. Fairchild was my direct superior! If I didn't approve what he asked, he threatened to fire me!”

“And yet, you showed remarkable initiative when it came to slowing down Mrs. Fairchild’s medical requests,” Raymond noted, leaning forward and resting his palms on the table.

“According to our server logs, you personally flagged twenty-seven separate emergency requisitions for Chloe Fairchild, labeling them ‘non-essential domestic overhead,’ ensuring they sat in administrative review until it was too late.”

Ximena began to weep, burying her face in her hands.

“Mr. Fairchild told me she was exaggerating the illness! He said she was just trying to drain the family accounts!”

Behind the one-way glass, I watched her tears without a single ounce of sympathy.

“Tell her,” I said quietly to the junior attorney standing beside me, “that she can either spend the next ten to fifteen years in a federal penitentiary for wire fraud and falsifying corporate audits, or she can sign a full cooperation affidavit detailing every single illegal directive Brendan ever gave her.”

The attorney nodded, walked out of the observation room, and entered the interrogation suite.

It took Ximena less than three minutes to reach for the pen.
