Chapter 9 - The New Dawn at Apex-Prescott Global

The following Monday morning, the grand auditorium of Apex-Prescott Global was packed with over three hundred senior executives, department heads, and financial analysts.
I walked out onto the elevated stage wearing a pristine white blazer and dark trousers, my posture upright, my expression completely serene.
The murmurs in the auditorium died down instantly as I stepped up to the central podium.
“Good morning,” I said, my voice carrying clear and strong through the high-end sound system.
“For those of you who don't know me, my name is Nora Vance-Fairchild. As of last week, I am the majority owner, chairwoman, and chief executive officer of this corporation.”
A respectful hush fell over the room.
“Many of you have spent years operating under a corporate culture driven by executive excess, falsified audits, and a complete disregard for human decency,” I continued, letting my gaze sweep slowly across the sea of faces.
“That culture ended the moment I stepped into this building.”
I paused, placing my hands flat on the podium.
“Effective immediately, we are launching a comprehensive corporate restructuring. Every executive expense account is undergoing mandatory audit. Every administrative bottleneck designed to stall humanitarian or family healthcare provisions has been permanently dismantled. We are building a company driven by integrity, intelligence, and absolute transparency.”
I thought of Chloe.
I thought of the tiny white urn sitting quietly in the nursery of the empty mansion.
“We will never again prioritize corporate liquidity over human life,” I vowed, my voice ringing with emotional resonance.
“If you share that vision, you have a home here. If you don't, the exit doors are downstairs.”
For three seconds, the auditorium remained entirely motionless.
Then, a single junior financial analyst near the front row began to clap.
Within moments, the entire auditorium erupted into a thunderous, standing ovation that shook the glass walls of the convention center.
I didn't smile broadly.
I just nodded once, acknowledging the room.
The battle was over.
