Chapter 3 - The Boardroom Blitz

The morning after the disastrous gala, the atmosphere inside the towering glass walls of the Sterling Global headquarters was incredibly toxic.

My father had frantically called an emergency board meeting for immediate damage control before the stock markets opened.

I knew his playbook. He wanted to spin my unexpected appearance, frame my military service as a "forced rehabilitation" of his deeply troubled daughter, and use my medals to boost his PR.

I didn’t even bother knocking when I pushed the heavy glass doors of the boardroom wide open.

“You have a lot of nerve walking in here, Victoria,” my father snapped, slamming his palm violently on the mahogany table, his face red with fury.

“Security is already on the way,” Julian hissed from the side of the table, nervously adjusting his overpriced silk tie. “You’re trespassing on corporate property.”

I ignored them both and walked straight to the head of the table, commanding the room.

I wasn’t wearing a torn evening gown anymore. I was wearing a sharp, meticulously tailored black suit that hid my bandages.

Behind me walked two heavily armed federal agents and a top-tier military prosecutor.

“I wouldn’t worry about security, Julian,” I said smoothly, pulling out a chair. “They’re currently busy escorting your Chief Financial Officer out of the lobby in handcuffs.”

The room immediately erupted into utter chaos. Senior board members began shouting in panic, pulling out their phones.

My father’s face turned a dangerous, sickly shade of purple. “What is the meaning of this?! I’ll have you all sued for everything you own!” he roared.

I calmly tossed a massive, heavily redacted file onto the center of the table. The United States Department of Defense seal was stamped clearly on the front in bold red ink.

“Sterling Global’s shipping contracts with the United States military have been terminated, effective immediately,” I announced, my voice cutting through the shouting like a knife.

I leaned forward, planting both hands firmly on the table, forcing my father to look me directly in the eyes.

“Furthermore, naval intelligence tactical teams have just seized ships four, seven, and nine at the port of Singapore. We found the ghost cargo, Arthur. The weapons you tried to hide.”

“You’re bluffing,” Julian stammered, sweating profusely, looking around the room for support that wasn't there. “You have absolutely no proof! It's a setup!”

“I have the captain’s encrypted logs,” I replied, my voice dropping to a lethal whisper. “I have the offshore bank routing numbers traced directly to your accounts. And I have a signed, videotaped confession from your port manager.”

Silence fell over the boardroom. The empire wasn’t just shaking anymore.

It was actively collapsing around them, and I was the one holding the sledgehammer.
