Chapter 13 - The Wolf’s Tomb

The Wolf’s Tomb was an abandoned stone quarry on the edge of town, the original meeting place of the founders of the club.
It was a deep, rocky bowl, surrounded by rusted machinery and crumbling stone walls.
The rain had stopped, leaving the air heavy and cold, the moon breaking through the clouds to cast a pale, ghostly light over the scene.
Silas arrived with his remaining loyalists, keeping Lyra close.
Marcus and the rest of the Iron Wolves followed, forming a wide, silent circle around the center of the quarry.
Gregory was there too, supported by two men, his head bandaged but his eyes sharp.
In the center of the quarry stood a heavy iron door set into the solid rock face—the vault.
“Open it,” Silas demanded, shoving Lyra toward the door.
Lyra walked up to the iron door.
There was no keyhole.
Instead, there were two circular indentations in the stone, shaped like wolf heads.
“It takes both rings,” Lyra said, turning to face him. “The Left Hand and the Right Hand. The King and his Enforcer.”
Silas stared at the door, then looked at the ring on his own finger.
He walked up, standing beside her.
“After tonight, there will only be one ring,” Silas whispered.

They both placed their hands into the indentations.
With a heavy, grinding sound of gears that hadn't turned in ten years, the iron door slowly swung open.
