Chapter 6 - The Delivery of the Dossier

Before David could recover his voice, the front door downstairs chimed softly, followed by the steady, measured sound of footsteps echoing up the stairs. David and Victoria both stiffened, their heads snapping toward the open bedroom door. A moment later, a tall, impeccably dressed woman in a sharp navy blue suit appeared in the doorway. It was my attorney, Sarah, holding a thick, heavy manila folder under her arm. Sarah glanced at the scene—at David standing half-naked in panic, at Victoria hiding under the sheets, and at me standing calmly by the door—with the practiced indifference of someone who had seen it all a thousand times before. She offered me a brief, professional nod before stepping into the room.
"Good afternoon, Elena," Sarah said smoothly, her voice cutting through the suffocating tension like a razor. She turned her sharp gaze toward David, her eyes narrowing with professional disdain. "Mr. Vance, I presume? I am Sarah Lin, legal counsel for Mrs. Vance." David stared at her, his brain struggling to connect the dots. "Legal counsel? What is this? Elena, what have you done?" he shouted, panic finally giving way to genuine fury as his fragile ego bruised under the weight of humiliation. He pointed a shaking finger at Sarah. "Get out of my house! This is a private matter! You have no right to—"
"Actually, Mr. Vance," Sarah interrupted smoothly, opening the manila folder and pulling out a crisp set of legal documents along with several glossy photographs, "your wife has every right. In fact, as of ten minutes ago, I have officially filed for divorce in the county court, citing adultery, dissipation of marital assets, and emotional abandonment." She walked forward and tossed a thick stack of papers onto the bed right beside Victoria. Photographs of David and Victoria entering hotels, detailed bank statements highlighting every unauthorized withdrawal, and transcripts of their most incriminating text messages spilled across the mattress like a shower of confetti. David stared down at the documents, his knees visibly buckling as the full, devastating magnitude of his actions hit him all at once.
