Chapter 5 - The Iron Crest Showdown: Viktor Enters The Den Of Wolves

The downtown headquarters of the Iron Crest Group was housed inside a gleaming, modern glass-and-steel skyscraper that masked its illicit gambling and extortion operations behind a legitimate real estate front.
At precisely two o’clock in the afternoon, Viktor Vance’s black Maybach pulled up directly in front of the grand glass revolving doors, halting traffic on the bustling avenue.
Viktor stepped out of the vehicle first, impeccably dressed in a custom-tailored navy suit, followed closely by Kaelen, who carried a sleek aluminum briefcase in his massive hand.
They walked through the revolving doors into the pristine, minimalist lobby, where two heavily armed private security guards instantly stepped forward to block their path.
“Hold on, pal. Private property. You need an appointment to see Mr. Thorne,” the lead security guard demanded aggressively, resting his hand on his concealed sidearm holster.
Viktor didn’t even break his stride; he didn’t even look at the guard as he continued walking straight toward the security checkpoint.
Kaelen moved with lightning speed, grabbing the lead guard by the throat and lifting him two feet off the ground with one hand before slamming him unconscious into the marble reception desk.
The second guard panicked, reaching for his weapon, but Kaelen swept his leg out in a brutal low kick that shattered the man’s knee and dropped him instantly to the floor.
Without missing a beat, Viktor stepped gracefully over the groaning guards, swiped his own titanium key card at the executive turnstile, and pressed the private elevator button for the penthouse level.
The private elevator shot upward at breakneck speed, carrying the two underworld titans directly into the lion’s den of Marcus Thorne’s criminal enterprise.
When the elevator doors slid open with a soft chime, they stepped out into a sprawling, luxurious executive suite overlooking the entire Manhattan financial district.
Sitting behind a massive glass desk at the far end of the room was Marcus Thorne, a slick, silver-haired syndicate boss surrounded by four armed enforcers holding automatic carbines.
“Well, well, look what the gutter dragged in,” Marcus sneered, leaning back in his leather executive chair while gesturing for his men to raise their weapons. “Viktor Vance. To what do I owe this unpleasant surprise in my building?”
Viktor didn’t blink, didn’t flinch, and didn’t slow his pace as he walked right down the center of the office toward the glass desk, hands tucked casually into his trouser pockets.
“Cut the act, Marcus,” Viktor said smoothly, his voice echoing coldly across the marble floors. “We both know your business model is built on shaking down college students and vulnerable families in the Lower East Side.”
Marcus’s smug smile faltered for a fraction of a second before he forced a loud, arrogant laugh to mask his sudden, creeping nervousness.
“You’re walking into my house, Viktor, surrounded by my men, over some broke waitress’s debt? Have you lost your damn mind in your old age?” Marcus challenged loudly.
“She’s not just a waitress, Marcus,” Viktor replied calmly, stopping just five feet from the glass desk. “She’s a principle. And principles in this city are very, very expensive.”
Marcus slammed his palms down on the glass desk, standing up to his full height as his enforcers clicked the safety switches off their carbines in unison.
“Kill them both right now,” Marcus screamed in a blind rage, pointing a shaking finger directly at Viktor and Kaelen.

Before the first enforcer could even squeeze the trigger, Kaelen lunged forward with terrifying, unstoppable force, kicking the executive desk directly into Marcus Thorne’s stomach.
The heavy glass desk shattered into a million sparkling pieces, pinning Marcus underneath the wreckage while Kaelen engaged the four armed enforcers in a brutal, close-quarters firefight.
