Chapter 8 - The Confrontation

Bang. The grand mahogany doors burst open, hitting the walls with a thunderous clap that silenced the entire room. The classical music screeched to a halt. The clinking of champagne glasses stopped. Hundreds of heads turned toward the entrance in absolute shock. Standing in the doorway, bathed in the harsh spotlight, was Leo. His boots were scuffed. His brown jacket was worn. He had a fresh cut on his cheek from the scuffle outside. In a room full of million-dollar tuxedos and evening gowns, he was a spectacular anomaly.

He didn't look at the crowd. He didn't look at the armed guards rushing in from the sides. His eyes immediately locked onto the woman in the burgundy dress sitting in the wheelchair. Elena gasped. All the air left her lungs. Her hands flew to her mouth, her eyes widening in sheer, unfiltered disbelief. Julian's smile vanished. His face contorted into a mask of pure rage and panic. He stepped forward, pointing a trembling finger at Leo. "You don't belong here," Julian sneered, his voice dripping with venom, though his eyes betrayed his fear. Leo dropped his heavy canvas duffel bag onto the pristine marble floor. He took a slow, deliberate step forward, never breaking eye contact with Elena. "I came all this way for her," Leo said, his voice deep, gravelly, and carrying across the silent room like thunder.
