Chapter 15 - The Covenant Sealed in Blood and the New Dawn in Rhode Island

The first snow of the season began to dust the historic rooftops of Providence as the sun rose over Narragansett Bay, painting the freezing morning sky in shades of pale lavender and steel grey.

Inside the master executive suite of the Ferrara headquarters, the air was warm, quiet, and charged with absolute security.

The final threat from the Boston underworld—a retaliatory whisper of a rogue hit squad sent by Declan O’Malley to avenge his humiliation—had been intercepted and neutralized by Rafe Lombardi and his security detail before they even crossed the Rhode Island state line.

There were no loose ends left.

No hidden traitors lurking in the corridors.

No lingering ghosts from the past demanding vengeance.

Emily Taylor stood by the floor-to-ceiling windows, holding a steaming cup of black coffee as she watched the morning commuter traffic flow smoothly across the bridge.

She wore her sharp, tailored navy suit, her posture commanding and relaxed.

Behind her, the sound of rhythmic, steady footsteps echoed across the polished oak flooring.

Emily turned around.

There, walking completely unassisted, gripping the parallel rehabilitation bars for balance before taking three deliberate, unassisted steps forward, was Santino Ferrara.

His broad shoulders were squared, his jaw set with fierce determination, his slate-grey eyes locked onto hers with absolute triumph.

He didn't need the motorized wheelchair anymore; the ice water had nearly drowned him, but the woman who had pulled him from the depths had given him back his life—and together, they had claimed an empire.

Santino stopped two paces away from her, standing tall and proud in the morning light.

“The dock operations are running at peak efficiency,” Emily reported with a playful, professional smirk, raising her coffee cup. “And your pacing is finally up to operational standard, Mr. Ferrara.”

Santino reached out, his strong, unyielding hand taking hers, his fingers intertwining with hers with absolute certainty.

“Call me Santino,” he murmured softly, a rare, warm smile breaking across his severe face. “We don't need titles anymore, partner.”

Emily smiled back, her heart full, knowing that the cold water covenant they had forged in the dark had finally brought them out into the brilliant, unyielding light of a brand-new dawn.
