Chapter 6 - THE INDICTMENT IN THE ENTRYWAY

"Sit down, Ethan," Marcus Vance said smoothly, stepping into the grand foyer with the quiet, terrifying authority of a man who owned the room. "And you too, Mrs. Caldwell. This is not a social visit."

Victoria recovered her composure with terrifying speed, her chin tilting up in haughty, arrogant defiance as she glared at me with pure hatred.

"How dare you trespass on private property?" she snapped, pointing a shaking finger at me. "Guards! Remove this gold-digging fraud and her shady lawyer immediately!"

None of the security guards moved an inch. They had already been quietly briefed by the deputies outside regarding the felony arrest warrant for assault, battery, and unlawful imprisonment signed off by a superior court judge less than an hour earlier.

Ethan looked frantically between his mother and me, his voice trembling uncontrollably. "Olivia, please, what is going on? Mother said you ran away!"

"Your mother is a magnificent, pathological liar, Ethan," I said, my voice cutting through the cavernous foyer like a razor blade.

I pulled out my tablet and tapped the screen. Instantly, Mrs. Walsh’s high-definition security footage began playing on the wall-mounted smart display above the grand marble fireplace.

The room filled with Victoria's clear, piercing voice, echoing off the high ceilings: “There’s a temple downtown that shelters strays... Go there.”

Then the visual played in crisp, horrifying detail—Victoria dragging me down the hall, gripping my hair with sadistic glee, and hacking at my braid with the metal scissors while I begged for mercy.

Ethan stumbled backward, staring at the screen as if he had been physically struck by lightning. He looked at his mother, the lifelong illusion of her pristine nobility shattering into a million jagged pieces right before his eyes.

"Mother... you... you did that?" he whispered, his voice hollow, broken, and devoid of life.
