Chapter 6 - The Broken Bond

Meanwhile, inside the mansion, the atmosphere was far from celebratory. Though the "monster" was gone, the scars remained. Lily became withdrawn, her grades plummeted, and she refused to sleep without the lights on. The trauma of Elena's hidden cruelty had run deeper than Raymond realized.
One evening, while tucking Lily into bed, Raymond noticed his daughter clutching a small, torn piece of drawing paper.
"What is that, sweetie?" Raymond asked softly, brushing a stray hair from her forehead.
Lily hesitated, then handed it to him. It was a crayon drawing of the three of them—Raymond, Lily, and Elena—holding hands under a bright yellow sun. On the back, in Lily’s messy handwriting, it read: “The day Mommy Elena took me to the park when Daddy was sick. She held me when I fell.”
Lily’s eyes filled with tears.

"Daddy... she was mean to me when you were gone. She screamed at me. But... before she got so angry about her secret plan, I think she really did love us. Or did she fake everything?"
Raymond’s heart shattered. He realized that Elena’s web of lies hadn't just deceived him; it had twisted a real, blossoming emotional bond into a nightmare for his daughter. He needed definitive closure, not just legal papers.
