Chapter 10 - A New Legacy

Six months later. The sun shone brightly over the gardens of Blackthorne Hall, illuminating the blooming white roses. The dark, oppressive atmosphere that had haunted the estate for decades was gone. Victoria was serving a life sentence in a federal penitentiary. The company, rebranded under the joint leadership of Elena and Adrian, was thriving, its stock higher than ever thanks to Julian's brilliant financial strategies. Elena stood on the terrace, holding a cup of tea. She was no longer wearing charcoal suits or silk armor. She wore a simple, comfortable linen dress. Adrian walked out, tossing a folder onto the patio table. “The new botanical research center is fully funded,” Adrian smiled. “Named after Clara Vale.” Elena smiled warmly at her brother. “Thank you, Adrian. It means everything to me.” Adrian patted her shoulder before heading back inside to prepare for a meeting. A moment later, strong arms wrapped around Elena from behind. Julian kissed the side of her neck, the scent of his cologne mixing with the morning breeze. “You’re up early, Madam Chairman,” he murmured. “Just admiring the view,” Elena said, leaning back into his embrace. She looked toward the far end of the garden, where the old servant's entrance used to be. She had ordered it torn down and replaced with an open gate. She had lived a life of invisibility, serving those who despised her. But she had not let the darkness consume her. She had used it to forge her strength. “Thinking about the past?” Julian asked, noticing her gaze. “No,” Elena replied, turning in his arms to face him. Her eyes were bright, focused on the future. “I’m thinking about right now.” She kissed him, the morning sun warming her skin. Inside the grand dining room, the heavy wooden chair bearing the Vale family crest still sat at the head of the table. But it was no longer an object of fear or ambition. It was just a chair. And Elena Vale didn't need a crest to know who she was.
