Chapter 9 - The Final Vote

The grand assembly hall was packed with hundreds of anxious shareholders, reporters, and executives. Marcus Laurent stood at the podium, looking victorious. Celeste sat in the front row, a smug smile plastered on her face. She was finally getting her revenge. “Ladies and gentlemen,” Marcus announced, “the Vale era is over. Mismanagement and scandal have ruined this great company. Laurent Holdings is here to save your investments.” He called for the final vote to dissolve the board. Before the electronic voting could commence, the heavy oak doors at the back of the hall swung open. Elena walked in, flanked by Adrian on her left and Julian on her right. She was no longer the frightened maid. She was the rightful heir, radiating authority. “The vote is invalid, Mr. Laurent,” Elena called out, her voice amplified by the room's acoustics. Marcus scowled. “You have no power here, little girl. I hold the majority.” “Not anymore,” Julian said, stepping forward. “As of ten minutes ago, Vance Capital has merged its assets with the Vale Private Trust. Combined with Adrian Vale’s shares, the Vale family now holds fifty-five percent of the voting power.” The room erupted into gasps and furious whispers. Celeste leaped from her seat. “That’s a lie! You don’t have that kind of leverage!” Adrian stepped up to the microphone. “It is true. And as my first act as co-chair of this board alongside my sister, Elena Vale, I move to permanently block any acquisition by Laurent Holdings.” Marcus turned purple with rage. “You’re making a mistake! The market will crush you!” “We will rebuild,” Elena said, her voice cutting through the noise with absolute clarity. “We will rebuild this company on transparency, not on secrets. Not on blood.” The independent shareholders, swayed by her undeniable conviction and Julian's financial backing, erupted into applause. Marcus and Celeste were forced to leave the hall, their hostile takeover crushed, their pride in tatters. Elena stood at the front of the room, looking out at the sea of faces. She had won.
