Chapter 1 - The Architect of My Ruin

I built my empire from a laptop on a dining room table.

It was a tech logistics firm that, within five years, was worth tens of millions.

I was the brains, the late nights, the sweat, and the tears.

Jason was just the charismatic salesman I hired in year two.

He was charming, loud, and knew how to make people feel important.

Including me.

I fell for him because I was exhausted and he promised to share the load.

We married in a lavish ceremony that he insisted on paying for—using his bonuses from my company.

Slowly, the dynamic shifted.

He wanted more titles.

More equity.

More control over the board of directors.

When I hesitated, the psychological warfare began.

He started telling our friends I was "overworked" and "cracking under the pressure."

He would hide my keys, delete important emails, and then act deeply concerned when I panicked.

"You're losing it, Sarah," he would whisper, holding me close. "Let me handle the business."

Then the physical "accidents" started.

A door slammed on my hand.

A push down three steps because he "tripped" behind me.

Every time, there were flowers.

Every time, there were tears and apologies.

Until the night of our anniversary, when I told him I wanted to step back and sell the company.

He didn't just get angry.

He turned into a monster.

That was the night I got the scars across my arms and shoulders.

I fought for my life, breaking a glass vase to get away.

When I finally locked myself in the bathroom and dialed 911, I didn't know it was the beginning of the end.

I just knew I wanted to survive.
