Chapter 3 - Building the Case in Shadows

I spent the next six months playing the perfect, fragile wife.
I wore long sleeves.
I smiled at corporate dinners.
I let Jason take the microphone at our annual gala.
But behind his back, I hired Daniel.
Daniel wasn't just a divorce attorney; he was a former corporate litigator with a reputation for being ruthless.
We met in underground parking garages and cheap diners on the edge of town.
I handed him two years' worth of encrypted financial files.
"He's planning something big," I told Daniel, sliding a flash drive across the table.
Daniel spent weeks untangling the web Jason had woven.
What he found made my blood run cold.
Jason hadn't just been manipulating my mind; he had been moving millions of dollars.
He had secretly set up offshore accounts.
Worse, he was working with Madison, our 25-year-old Vice President of Public Relations.
I had mentored Madison. I had paid for her MBA.
But the emails Daniel recovered showed they had been sleeping together for over a year.
Madison wasn't just his mistress; she was his accomplice.
They were drafting fake medical reports, paying off sketchy psychiatrists to sign off on my "declining mental health."
They were building a paper trail to put me under a conservatorship.
Like Britney Spears.
He wanted to declare me legally incompetent so he could take 100% control of the company I built.
"He's not just a cheater," Daniel said, his eyes narrowing. "He's a criminal."
"Can we prove it?" I asked.
Daniel leaned back. "We need more than just these emails. We need the original incident."

We needed the night of the glass cabinet.
We needed the truth I had buried.
