Chapter 3 - The Spreadsheet Of Betrayal

I couldn't go back to the house that night.

I stayed in a luxury hotel downtown, staring at the ceiling, processing the betrayal.

The man I slept next to wasn't a partner; he was a parasite.

But Robert told me we needed one more piece of evidence to make the fraud charges airtight.

We needed David’s personal laptop.

The next day, David went to play his weekly golf game at the country club.

I drove back to our estate, my heart pounding in my chest.

I slipped into his home office.

He always left his laptop on his desk, assuming I would never dare touch his "work" materials.

I plugged in the specialized USB drive Robert’s tech expert had given me.

It bypassed his password in seconds, cloning the entire hard drive quietly and efficiently.

Ten minutes later, I was out the door.

When I brought the drive to Robert’s office, the tech team immediately went to work.

Within an hour, they found the motherlode.

Deep in a hidden, encrypted folder, investigators discovered a master spreadsheet.

It was titled: Family_Fund_Distro.xls

I sat beside Robert as he opened it on the big screen.

It listed every single monthly transfer I had made since the day we got married.

Beside each transfer was a strict percentage breakdown.

Mother: 30%. Brother: 20%. Sister: 15%. Husband: 35%.

My breath caught in my throat.

This wasn’t a family needing financial support.

It was a highly organized distribution system. A syndicate.

David was taking the largest cut of the money he forced me to give them, hiding it in an account solely in his name.

But as my eyes scanned the screen, they locked onto something that made my blood run cold.

At the far right of the spreadsheet, there was a column highlighted in bold red.

It was labeled: PHASE TWO.

“Open that column,” I told the tech, my voice shaking with rage.

He clicked it to expand the cells.

It was a timeline. A step-by-step plan for the next five years.

The first entry under PHASE TWO was my inherited property—the sprawling 500-acre estate my father left me.

The document outlined a plan to coerce me into putting David's name on the deed.

The second entry was my primary investment account, worth over ten million dollars.

They had notes on how to declare me mentally unfit if I refused, citing "extreme stress."

They weren’t just stealing my pocket change.

They were planning to consume my entire life, take everything I owned, and discard me.
