Chapter 8 - A New Empire

Two years later.

David is currently serving a seven-year sentence in a federal penitentiary.

I hear he works in the prison laundry room, making 12 cents an hour.

A steep drop from the 35% cut he was used to taking from me.

Martha was given three years.

She lost the house I had been paying for and was forced to declare bankruptcy.

Kevin and Sarah avoided jail time but have felony records, making it impossible for them to ever work in finance or business again.

As for me?

I sold the sprawling estate where I was slapped.

I bought a stunning penthouse overlooking the ocean, far away from the toxic memories of the Sterling family.

I took the $600,000 I recovered and used it to establish a foundation that provides legal assistance and financial auditing for victims of domestic financial abuse.

I never let another person control my wealth, my decisions, or my life.

They thought they had me trapped.

They thought my money made me weak, soft, and easy to manipulate.

They designed Phase Two to take everything I had.

But they forgot one crucial detail.
