Chapter 3 - Breaching the Gates

The heavy iron security gates of Sterling Ridge Estate parted slowly, not for arriving VIP guests, but for an unmarked convoy of black tactical vehicles and state police cruisers. Inside the lead SUV, Special Agent Diana Cruz adjusted her tactical vest, her eyes fixed on the illuminated blueprints of the sprawling estate displayed on a ruggedized tablet.

"All units, listen up," Diana spoke into her radio, her voice crisp and authoritative. "We are executing federal search and arrest warrants pursuant to Case File 88-Fraud. Target individuals include Julian Sterling, Marcus Vance, and Arthur Sterling. Perimeter is secured. Nobody leaves this property until federal custody is established."

"Copy that, Lead," a tactical officer responded from the second vehicle. "Breach team alpha is moving through the rear service entrance to bypass the ballroom reception."

Diana nodded, tapping a secondary screen that displayed Audrey’s live medical telemetry from the secure emergency phone. The heart rate of the unborn child was elevated, racing at over one hundred and sixty beats per minute. Time was running out, not only for the criminal syndicate operating inside the mansion but for Audrey and her child.

Inside the east service hallway, the heavy bass of the wedding band vibrated through the floorboards, masking the heavy, synchronized thud of combat boots approaching the eastern wing. Two armed estate security guards stepped out from an alcove, their eyes widening in shock as a squad of federal agents materialized from the shadows.

"Stop right there! Private property—" one guard started, reaching instinctively for his holster.

Before his hand could wrap around the grip, a tactical officer stepped forward, pressing a cold Taser muzzle firmly against his chest while two others pinned him against the wall.

"Federal Agents! Down on the ground, hands behind your head, do it now!" an officer barked, forcing both guards to their knees within three seconds flat.

Diana strode past them down the narrow corridor, her boots clicking sharply against the polished linoleum until she reached the heavy oak door of the east bridal restroom. She raised her fist and struck the wood twice.

"Audrey? It's Diana. Step away from the door, we're breaching!"

Inside the cramped restroom, Audrey dragged herself backward across the tile floor, pressing her back against the far sink cabinet as a sharp metallic pop echoed through the room. The reinforced brass lock shattered under a single, well-placed hydraulic strike from the tactical team. The door swung open wide, flooding the dim room with harsh, white hallway light.

Diana rushed inside, dropping to her knees beside Audrey, her expression shifting instantly from hardened investigator to fierce protector.

"You're safe now," Diana said softly, resting a reassuring hand on Audrey’s trembling shoulder. "Paramedics are right behind me. Let's get you out of here."

Audrey gripped Diana’s sleeve, tears streaming down her pale face as another contraction wrung her body like a dry towel. "The baby... she's coming right now, Diana. We don't have time to wait for an ambulance."

Diana turned toward the doorway and shouted over her shoulder. "Medic team, get in here with the mobile obstetric kit immediately! We have an active delivery!"

Two combat medics rushed through the doorway with specialized medical bags, instantly transforming the luxurious bridal restroom into an emergency delivery ward. Outside in the grand ballroom, however, the champagne continued to flow, completely oblivious to the fact that the federal net had just closed around the entire Sterling family.
