Chapter 11 - A New Dawn at Vance Holdings

The executive boardroom on the fiftieth floor of Vance Holdings was filled with senior partners and financial analysts, all waiting in absolute silence as I took my seat at the head of the polished mahogany table. For five years, I had sat at the very back of similar rooms, treated as an invisible assistant or a quiet appendage to a man who took credit for my brilliance.

Today, my name was engraved on the brass plaque beside the master seat.

“Good morning, everyone,” I said, my voice carrying clearly across the expansive room without a single trace of hesitation. “Let us begin by reviewing the Q3 restructuring reports and the integration of our newly acquired logistics assets.”

The chief financial officer nodded respectfully and clicked his remote, projecting the updated corporate hierarchy onto the smart screen at the front of the room. As the slides advanced, showing the steady growth of the portfolios I had quietly built during my marriage, I felt a deep, enduring sense of peace.

The meeting flowed seamlessly, filled with sharp insights, decisive leadership, and the unanimous respect of people who once barely knew my name.
