Chapter 10 - The General's Fall

“Kill her! Cut her off from the console!” Holloway commanded.
The soldiers rushed the platform.
Ava opened her eyes. They glowed with blinding blue light.
She didn't wake the sleepers. Instead, she accessed the ship’s automated defense grid.
The geometric glyphs on the walls suddenly shifted.
Turrets dropped from the ceiling, locking onto the hostile targets.
“Fall back!” a soldier screamed.
It was too late. Non-lethal sonic pulses blasted from the turrets.
The soldiers dropped their weapons, falling to their knees and clutching their ears in agony.
Holloway stumbled, raising his gun toward Ava.
With a flick of her wrist, Ava manipulated the gravity field on the platform. Holloway was slammed into the floor, pinned by an invisible, crushing weight.
Ava walked slowly down from the console, the blue light fading from her eyes.
“You don't get to own us,” Ava said, standing over the General.
Holloway groaned, blood leaking from his nose. “You can't hide this ship. The government will send an army. You’re already dead.”
