Chapter 13 - The Alliance of Predators

Dawn broke over Manhattan, casting a pale, cold light across the towering glass facade of Voss Tower.
Inside the executive boardroom, the atmosphere was thick with the scent of espresso and suppressed fury.
Cassian stood at the head of the long conference table, reviewing intercepted financial wire logs alongside federal intelligence agents.
“Viktor Vance thought he could use local mercenaries as a blunt instrument,” Cassian stated, his voice ringing with absolute authority.
“Instead, he left us the cryptographic key to his entire offshore network.”
Margaret Sterling adjusted her glasses, pointing a slim silver pen at the financial schematic displayed on the main monitor.
“By tracking the encrypted communications from the mercenaries’ comm-units, we mapped Vance’s primary operational hub in Geneva,” Margaret explained.
“Every shell company, every laundered dollar, and every bribe he paid to corrupt municipal officials is right here.”
Elena sat quietly near the center of the table, turning the antique diamond ring on her finger.
“He’s not just trying to protect his money,” Elena said, looking up at Cassian.
“He’s trying to erase the last remaining proof that my father’s compositions were stolen.”
“Which means Vance will make a desperate public appearance at the upcoming International Composer’s Gala tomorrow night,” Cassian replied, a cold, predatory smile touching his lips.
“He believes that if he acquires the master physical scores directly from the foundation board, he can rewrite the copyright history.”
“And we are going to let him try,” Elena added, her eyes flashing with determination.
“We use the gala as bait,” Cassian confirmed, nodding slowly.
“We invite Vance into the lion’s den, let him think he’s winning, and then spring the federal trap live on international television.”
The federal lead investigator looked hesitantly between Cassian and Elena.
“Mr. Voss, that is an extreme security risk,” the agent cautioned.
“Vance has heavily armed cells operating within the city.”
“Let them come,” Cassian replied coldly.
“My security forces will control every inch of the theater.”
“And I am ready,” Elena said firmly, standing up from her chair.

“My father waited twenty years for justice.”
“I can wait twenty-four hours to watch the men who destroyed him fall.”
