Chapter 9 - The Symphony of Justice

The private airfield on the outskirts of the city was swept by a cold, biting evening wind.

Rows of private jets lined the tarmac, their aluminum hulls gleaming beneath the harsh glare of floodlights.

A sleek black Mercedes limousine glided to a smooth halt beside the stairs of Cassian Voss’s private Gulfstream.

The rear door opened, and Cassian stepped out first, adjusting the cuffs of his bespoke coat.

He turned and offered a hand to Elena, who stepped down onto the tarmac with calm, unwavering poise.

A few yards away, pinned against the chain-link fence by two security guards, stood Julian Hale and Vivian Ashcroft.

Julian’s designer tuxedo was wrinkled and stained, his hair disheveled, his eyes wild with terror.

Vivian was weeping hysterically, her expensive red dress ruined by the damp night air.

“Cassian! Please—let us go!” Julian begged, struggling uselessly against the grip of the guards.

“We can make a deal! I can give you shares in the shipping terminal!”

Cassian didn't even break his stride as he walked slowly toward them, his hands tucked casually into his coat pockets.

Elena walked silently beside him, looking at the man who had once promised her the world only to destroy her family for profit.

“You never understood art, Julian,” Elena said quietly, her voice cutting through the roar of the jet engines.

“You thought compositions were just paper you could steal and sell to the highest bidder.”

“Music belongs to the soul that creates it, not the thief who hoards it.”

Julian snarled, his face twisting with desperate malice.

“You’re nothing more than a servant playing dress-up, Elena!” he screamed.

“Once Cassian gets tired of you, you’ll be right back scrubbing marble floors!”

Before Julian could utter another word, a heavy hand struck the side of his face with clinical precision, sending him staggering sideways.

It wasn't Cassian.

It was Margaret Sterling, who had stepped out of the second limousine carrying her legal ledger like a weapon.

“That is for Arthur Marlow,” Margaret said coldly, shaking out her aching knuckles.

“And the rest is for the federal marshals.”

A convoy of black SUV’s with flashing blue and red lights tore through the airfield gates, screeching to a halt beside the private jet.

Federal marshals piled out of the vehicles, immediately taking custody of Julian and Vivian, snapping heavy steel handcuffs around their wrists.

“Julian Hale, you are under arrest for grand larceny, wire fraud, copyright infringement, and corporate conspiracy,” the lead marshal announced, reading the charges aloud as they shoved Julian toward a squad car.

Vivian shrieked as she was pushed into the rear of the second cruiser, her designer heels clicking uselessly against the pavement.

Elena watched them drive away into the dark night, feeling the last remaining weight lift entirely from her shoulders.

Cassian stepped close to her, wrapping his arm around her waist and pulling her gently against his side.

“It’s over, Elena,” Cassian murmured, pressing a gentle kiss against her temple.

“Your father’s legacy is restored, and the debt has been paid in full.”

Elena looked up into his gray eyes, realizing that the cold, ruthless billionaire standing beside her had given her something she never expected to find again.

A home.
