Chapter 3 - The Cold Expulsion

“What do you mean I’m not going home?” Serena laughed nervously.
I stood at the doorway of Ethan's room, watching the confrontation unfold in the empty hospital corridor.
Victor held up his phone, pressing play on the security footage.
The sound of Serena’s cruel voice echoing from the tiny speaker filled the hallway.
“Who do you think you are, you lowly maid?”
Serena backed away, her hands trembling as she dropped her designer handbag.
“Victor… that’s… that’s deepfake! Someone altered the video!”
“You paid Marcus to disable the cameras at 8:00 PM,” Victor said, his voice terrifyingly steady.
“What you didn’t know is that I upgraded the system last week. When the main feed goes down, the backup cloud cameras kick in immediately.”
Serena gasped, her lies crumbling into dust.
“You dragged my two-year-old son across a marble floor.” Victor stepped closer, towering over her. “You kicked the only woman who tried to protect him.”
“He ruined my Chanel dress!” Serena screamed, finally dropping the act. “He’s a brat, Victor! He needs discipline!”
Victor didn’t yell. He didn’t raise a hand.
He just pulled out his phone and made a single call.
“Cancel all of Serena Vance’s credit cards under my name. Evict her from the penthouse. And throw all her belongings onto the street.”
Serena fell to her knees. “You can’t do this! We’re engaged! My family will ruin you!”
“Let them try.” Victor looked down at her with absolute disgust. “If you ever come within a hundred feet of my son or Clara again, I will make sure you spend the rest of your miserable life in a concrete cell.”
He signaled his bodyguards, who had just arrived.
“Escort Miss Vance off the premises. Now.”
Serena was dragged away, kicking and screaming obscenities, her mask of high-society elegance completely shattered.
Victor stood alone for a moment, adjusting his suit jacket.

Then, he turned around and met my eyes.
“Let’s get a doctor to look at your injuries, Clara,” he said gently. “You’re not just a maid anymore.”
